What We Believe in God’s Future Vision for LBC or The Vision to Build
Our mission at Louisburg First Baptist Church is taken from John 12:32. “Lifting up Jesus Christ – that all mankind might be drawn unto Him.” For over three decades, our church has dedicated its existence to this passage.
Louisburg First Baptist Church (LBC) has been “lifting up Jesus Christ” to anyone willing to listen for over 132 years. In fact, during the 1950’s and 1960’s our growing church population made it necessary to expand our current church. With the Lord’s guidance and a need for more room to do the Lord’s work, this expansion consisted of space for a meeting hall and classrooms for Sunday School. LBC has seen continuous growth. In the 1980’s, we found ourselves needing even more space to provide God’s work. After much prayer and a step in faith, LBC added the Family Life Center. This Center has provided so many wonderful opportunities to “lift up Jesus Christ” to so many people.
Now, in 2008, we need to provide more space to realize God’s vision for LBC. Although, our current church has allowed us to “lift up Jesus Christ” to so many people, we are struggling to meet the needs of our community. With the building of a new church, we envision developing the following ministries.
• After school ministry for school age children (K-12)
• A pre-school ministry
• A ministry to reach middle school children
• A ministry for high school youth
• A young adults’ ministry
• Family life ministry
• A community out-reach ministry
With the Lord’s guidance, we believe that LBC could provide so many other ministries to “lift up Jesus Christ” to so many people in our community.
The Lord has continued to bless us. With the Lord’s vision to build a new church, we were able to purchase ten acres behind Pizza Hut on the east side of town. Again, the Lord intervened. LBC was able to trade this property for a prime piece of property on the corner of 68 HWY and Rockville Road. The property sits in the middle of a growing housing development, with a new elementary school two blocks north, and the local high school and middle school to the south and west. Today, the 10.3 acres is debt free and waiting for LBC to build a church on this “promise land.”
During this past year, we have been trying to fulfill God’s vision for us. After lots of hard work and many prayers, we believe God has led us to the consulting firm Building God’s Way. We have contracted this firm to guide us through the building process. This process consists of how to fund the new church, what type of church to build, and the process needed to bring about the building of a new home for LBC.
Won’t you come along with us as we step out in faith and embark on a “Capital Campaign” to raise the funds to realize the Lord’s vision for us? It will indeed be a spiritual journey to see how the Lord helps us to “lift up Jesus Christ” to so many more people in our new church.
